Chemical hazards management

Even before the introduction of the REACH Regulation, Plastic Omnium was already applying a proactive policy for the management of chemical hazards, with an overarching concern for protecting the health and safety of employees and users of these products. The Group had therefore deployed measures mainly focused on the 10% of substances that represent 80% of the hazards, namely SVHC (Substances Very High Concern) and CMR (Carcinogenic, Mutagenic or toxic to Reproduction).

250 staff were trained. The system centers ont he X-MAT database, managed by the specialist EcoMundo, which raises the alarm if a product known to contain these incriminated substances is entered. By 2013, X-MAT should be extended to other substances to monitor all incoming products.

X-label labeling module, extension of X-MAT

In addition, the ∑-Sigmatech site is testing the X-label labeling module. After granting authorization to use the product entered the system provides access to a simplified safety data sheet and printing of a label showing the applicable safety rules.
