The Range Rover Evoque with Plastic Omnium Named 2012 "North American Truck of the Year" at Detroit Auto Show

Plastic Omnium supplies the SUV with the innovative plastic tailgate "Higate" and front fenders. On January 9th, the Range Rover Evoque was named 2012 "North American Truck of the Year", one of the most celebrated awards in the automotive industry. The announcement was made at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

Second vehicle to be equipped with the PO Higate.

One of those, the PO hybrid plastic tailgate has been selected by Jaguar Land Rover to equip the 3 and 5-door versions of its premium SU vehicle. The "Higate" consists of an SMC (Sheet molding compound) inner structure and a thermoplastic lower outer panel. This solution offers up to 30% weight reduction compared to steel. It is the second car to be equipped with the PO Higate after the Peugeot 508 SW.

The production will be handled by three PO sites: Fontaine and Saint-Desirat in France and Measham in Great Britain. Jaguar Land Rover plans to sell 120,000 copies a year of that vehicle in the world.
