Noise-abatement walls

An increase in road traffic – especially at night – has led to an increase in noise pollution. A major concern in France, the problem has created a large number of quality of life and health issues for people living near major roadways.

A European leader in road signage and safety equipment made with recycled plastic, Sodilor is committed to responding to emerging demand from local communities on ways to protect residential areas from noise. Noise-abatement walls and other acoustic protection structures have already been installed along roadways throughout France – in Mont-de-Marsan, Rennes, Quimper, Villeneuve-Lès-Béziers, Heiltz-l’Évêque and more recently Ormes, where the first anti-noise vegetation barrier made of recycled plastic was inaugurated on 25 November 2010. Highly absorbent, this noise-abatement structure – classified A3 according to European standards – reduces noise by 9 decibels via absorption, meaning actual noise transmission is reduced by 24 decibels.
