SCR: Nox and Diesel Emissions Reduction

DIESEL EMISSIONS REDUCTION

Since 2008, the application of Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology on passenger vehicles in US and Europe ensures an efficient Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) after-treatment to meet Tier 2 Bin 5 emissions regulation requirements.

Leveraging its know-how in onboard fuel storage and delivery, the Auto Inergy division has developed DINOx, its own NOx reduction product line based on SCR technology.

DINOx Premium

Developed for meeting Tier 2 Bin 5 and EURO 6 regulations with SCR applied on passenger cars, DINOx Premium is an automotive onboard SCR storage and delivery system from the filler cap to the injector:

  • with system control S/W and H/W ready for integration in vehicle electrical architecture.
  • with standard AdBlue® Delivery Modile (ADM) integrating key system functions.
  • with key components adaptable to the vehicle upon OEM’s request (AdBlue® DEF tank, heater, level sensor).

The flexible architecture of DINOx Premium allows for easy integration into the vehicle according to OEM’s specifications, based on standardized building blocks. A quiet and odorless system for passengers’ comfort, DINOx Premium is also able to offer best-in-class system performance operating under all temperature conditions from -40°C to +80°C. Its robustness was specifically optimized for operation in freezing conditions.

DINOx Premium is the most suitable system to comply with US EPA and Euro 6 requirements. That is the reason why Plastic Omnium was already awarded more than 30 vehicle programs by OEMs to equip clean diesel vehicles in Europe, America and Asia.

And because Plastic Omnium is a world leader in SCR applications for passenger cars and light commercial vehicles, it is active in several international working groups on SCR technology, creating worldwide standards for this technology.

Through its compact and flexible design, DINOx Premium revolutionizes the affordability of SCR systems for diesel vehicles.

NOx reduction reaction

On Clean Diesel vehicles, an aqueous solution of urea, such as AdBlue® is sprayed into the exhaust gas. This creates a chemical transformation by hydrolysis: an atomization and decomposition of urea towards ammonia (NH3) which reacts with NOx inside of the catalytic converter to form inert nitrogen (N2) and water vapor, drastically reducing NOx emissions.
