On September 25th 2023, at Lachelle (Oise), Plastic Omnium started a hydrogen tank plant construction, most particularly for lorries and buses.
When laying the first stone, Laurent Favre, Chief Executive Officer of Plastic Omnium, stated that “this project embodies the very DNA of the energy transition, by capitalizing on our technological expertise, full tank proven to commission them of the future solution that is hydrogen. By focusing on innovation and on strengthening our industrial capacity, we could bring answers to energetic stakes.”
With an annual capacity of 80 000 hydrogen containers, the factory will provide among other companies Stellantis and HYVIA. This overall investment of nearly €150 million will lead to 150 to 200 jobs. This factory will be built respecting the highest environmental standards, in line with the Group carbon neutrality’s roadmap. Indeed, it will produce most of the energy it will need.
Hydrogen pioneer, Plastic Omnium has committed €400 million in it since 2015. Its presence on three continents allows it to be closer to the growing hydrogen mobility markets. Two other tank plants factories will be born in 2027 in Michigan (United States) and in Shanghai (China) in 2026.
Plastic Omnium asserts itself by its complete offer and its presence throughout the entire hydrogen mobility value chain. From tanks to fuel cells, the Group highlights its knowledge and expertise, which takes shape by an order book up to €4 billion.Watch the France 3 Picardie replay (Only FR)
